Mission
Statement
It is the
mission of the West Point Police Department to serve all people within
our jurisdiction with respect, fairness and compassion. We are committed
to the protection of life and property; the preservation of peace, order
and safety; the vigorous enforcement of local, state and federal laws;
and the defense of the Constitution of the State of Virginia and the Constitution
of the United States of America in a fair and impartial manner.
We are committed to serving our community to enhance the quality of life
and to nurture public trust by holding ourselves to the highest standards
of performance and ethics. Our officers are determined to serve as a deterrent
to crime, develop relationships with community groups, residential and
business organizations, and promote an environment receptive to tourism,
visitors, and residents and to support historic preservation in our Town.
Additionally, we are dedicated to our personnel by providing continuous
training and educational development, as well as career enhancement opportunities.
The West
Point Police Department has and shall continue to provide service of the
highest quality to its community and foster partnerships in crime prevention.

Crime Solvers
If you are a witness or know about a crime, please call 804.769.3000. King William
and West Point Crime Solvers, Inc. officially began operation in 1996.
In 2003, King & Queen County joined the organization and the name
was changed to Mattaponi Crime Solvers. Its mission is to assist local
law enforcement with solving crimes in King & Queen, King William,
and West Point. Crime Solvers works in cooperation with law enforcement,
the media, and citizens to provide information about crimes.
If you witness
or know about a crime, simply call Crime Solvers at 804.769.3000. You
never have to give your name. In fact, you are only referred to by a caller
identification number. The Crime Solvers phone line is not hooked up to
any tracing system. All callers remain anonymous and you never have to
appear in court. In your information leads to an arrest or recovery of
stolen property, you may receive a cash reward of up to $1,000. Crime
Solvers is a safe, effective way for citizens to fight crime.
The
Department is in the process of accreditation through the Virginia State
Law Enforcement Accreditation Coalition.
