Background

This water system distribution project is along Main Street (VA-30) between 18th Street and 23rd Street. This project includes the installation of new 6-inch and 4-inch waterlines, fire hydrants, valves, fittings, appurtenances, and water services, along with incidental trenching, excavation, grading, erosion control, pavement milling and overlays, and project site restoration.

This project was identified as a needed distribution system improvement. The improvements will replace a problematic and aging existing 8-inch diameter ductile iron pipe located along Main Street (VA-30).  The system improvements will provide additional fire hydrants for firefighting needs along the service area. Reduce the number of line breaks requiring repair and disrupting water service along Main Street (VA-30). Provide new water service lines addressing current Lead Service Line Replacement Requirement.
