SchoolsThe Town of West Point has an excellent public school system. In 2022, West Point Elementary School was named a National Blue Ribbon School. West Point Public Schools received the “Virginia Board of Education’s Excellence Award” in 2012 and has been ranked as the “#1 School Division in the State of Virginia” multiple years. Our school system was awarded the “Distinguished Title I School District” six years in a row and received the “What Parents Want” award for 12 years. RecreationThe Town of West Point features its own YMCA as well as baseball, soccer, and football fields, tennis courts, a walking/running track, river access, kayak rentals, and biking/walking trails. Our Town Park includes a fenced-in children’s play area as well as a large field and stage for recreational activities and events. Our Riverwalk Park and Pavilion feature picnic areas, a large, covered pavilion for events, picnics, and more. Residents and visitors enjoy access to the Pamunkey, Mattaponi, and York Rivers via Beach Park located at 1st and Main Streets, multiple kayak/canoe launch points, our Riverwalk, and Glass Island Fishing Pier and Boat Landing.
